وَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلنَّفْسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ
and I swear by the self that reproaches itself. The commentaries agree the self meant is the one that blames itself even for its good, and that what the two oaths swear to is the raising, named in the question that follows.
اور میں نفسِ لوامہ کی قسم کھاتا ہوں۔ تفسیر مقباس کے مطابق لا اقسم کا صیغہ قسم کا ہی صیغہ ہے، نفی کا حرف اقسم کے فعل پر داخل کیا گیا تاکہ جس چیز کی قسم کھائی جا رہی ہے اس کی حرمت کی تاکید میں مبالغہ ہو، ایسا لگے کہ گویا بولنے والا اس کی قسم کھانے کا ارادہ کرتا ہے پھر اس کی حرمت توڑنے کے خوف سے قسم چھوڑ دیتا ہے۔
