وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ
and the sun and the moon are brought together — the commentaries agree these are the signs of that Day: the eye fixed in astonishment at what it had denied, and the two lights gone.
اور سورج اور چاند اکٹھے کر دیے جائیں گے۔ تفسیر مقباس کے مطابق یہ وہ کسوف نہیں جو عام طور پر تب ہوتا ہے جب زمین چاند اور سورج کے درمیان حائل ہو جاتی ہے، بلکہ سورج اور چاند کے جمع ہونے کا مطلب ہے چاند سورج سے چپک جائے گا اور سورج اسے نگل لے گا۔ بغوی بتاتے ہیں کہ دونوں سیاہ اور لپیٹے ہوئے ہوں گے، گویا وہ ذبح کیے گئے دو بیل ہوں، اور بعض کہتے ہیں روشنی کے جانے میں ان دونوں کو جمع کر دیا جائے گا۔
