بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلْأَنفَالِ قُلِ ٱلْأَنفَالُ لِلَّهِ وَٱلرَّسُولِ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَصْلِحُوا۟ ذَاتَ بَيْنِكُمْ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
They ask you about the spoils. The word means what comes as an increase over a thing, which is why the voluntary acts of worship carry the same name. Say: the spoils belong to God and the Messenger, so the dispute over them is not yours to settle; be mindful of God, set right what is between you, and obey God and His Messenger, if you are believers. The commentaries record the occasion together: the question came after Badr, when those who had done the fighting and those who had held the lines behind them each claimed what had been taken.
صحابہ کرام نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے انفال یعنی مالِ غنیمت کے بارے میں سوال کیا، اور یہ لفظ اس اضافی چیز کے لیے آتا ہے جو کسی چیز پر زائد ملے، اسی وجہ سے نفلی عبادات کو بھی نوافل کہا جاتا ہے۔ اللہ تعالی نے فرمایا کہ انفال کا معاملہ لوگوں کے آپس میں جھگڑنے کی چیز نہیں بلکہ یہ اللہ اور اس کے رسول کے اختیار میں ہے، اس لیے مومنوں کو حکم دیا گیا کہ اللہ سے ڈریں، آپس کے تعلقات درست رکھیں اور اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی اطاعت کریں۔ مفسرین کے نزدیک یہ سوال غزوہ بدر کے بعد پیش آیا، جب لڑنے والوں اور پیچھے مورچہ سنبھالنے والوں کے درمیان مالِ غنیمت کی تقسیم پر اختلاف ہوا۔
