وَمَن يُوَلِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ دُبُرَهُۥٓ إِلَّا مُتَحَرِّفًا لِّقِتَالٍ أَوْ مُتَحَيِّزًا إِلَىٰ فِئَةٍ فَقَدْ بَآءَ بِغَضَبٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَأْوَىٰهُ جَهَنَّمُ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ
Whoever turns his back on them that day has drawn on himself anger from God, and his shelter is Hell, and it is an evil destination. Two turnings are not that turning, and the commentaries name them together: wheeling aside as a stratagem of war, showing the enemy a flight while intending to return to the attack, and withdrawing to join another company of the believers to draw strength from them.
جو کوئی اس دن ان سے پیٹھ پھیر کر بھاگے وہ اللہ کے غضب کا مستحق ہو جاتا ہے، اور اس کا ٹھکانہ جہنم ہے اور وہ بہت برا ٹھکانہ ہے۔ مفسرین نے اس وعید سے دو صورتیں الگ رکھی ہیں: ایک یہ کہ جنگی چال کے طور پر رخ بدل کر دوبارہ حملے کے لیے پلٹنا، دوسری یہ کہ مسلمانوں کی کسی اور جماعت سے مل کر طاقت حاصل کرنے کے لیے ہٹنا، یہ دونوں صورتیں مذموم پیٹھ پھیرنے میں شامل نہیں۔
