وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالُوا۟ قَدْ سَمِعْنَا لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَقُلْنَا مِثْلَ هَٰذَآ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
And when Our signs are recited to them they say: we have heard; if we wished we could say the like of this. This is nothing but the tales of the ancients. They said it and never did it, and they were challenged to bring the like and could not.
اور جب ان کے سامنے قرآن کی آیات پڑھی جاتی ہیں تو وہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نے سن لیا، اگر ہم چاہیں تو ہم بھی ایسی ہی باتیں کہہ سکتے ہیں، یہ تو پہلے لوگوں کی کہانیاں اور داستانیں ہیں۔ انہوں نے یہ دعوی تو کیا لیکن کبھی عملی طور پر ایسا نہ کر سکے، اور قرآن نے انہیں اس جیسا لانے کا چیلنج دیا تو وہ اس میں بالکل ناکام رہے۔
