وَإِذْ يَعِدُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ إِحْدَى ٱلطَّآئِفَتَيْنِ أَنَّهَا لَكُمْ وَتَوَدُّونَ أَنَّ غَيْرَ ذَاتِ ٱلشَّوْكَةِ تَكُونُ لَكُمْ وَيُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ أَن يُحِقَّ ٱلْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَٰتِهِۦ وَيَقْطَعَ دَابِرَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
God promised you that one of the two parties would be yours: the trading caravan, or the armed column that had come out from Mecca. You wished for the one that carried no weapons, because it was the smaller and the easier of the two. But God willed to establish the truth by His words and to cut away the last root of those who refuse.
اللہ نے تم سے وعدہ فرمایا کہ دو گروہوں میں سے ایک تمہارے ہاتھ آئے گا، یعنی تجارتی قافلہ یا مکہ سے نکلنے والا مسلح لشکر، اور تم چاہتے تھے کہ وہ گروہ تمہیں ملے جس کے پاس ہتھیار نہ ہوں کیونکہ وہ آسان اور کمزور تھا۔ لیکن اللہ کا ارادہ یہ تھا کہ اپنے کلمات کے ذریعے حق کو ثابت کرے اور کافروں کی جڑ کاٹ دے۔
