ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْبِلَٰدِ
those who overstepped in the lands — going past every bound, the commentaries gloss, against God's messengers.
یہ وصف ان سب کا ہے — عاد، ثمود، فرعون اور ان کے پیروکار۔ ”طَغَوْا“ یعنی انہوں نے سرکشی، جبر اور ظلم میں ہر حد پار کر دی، ہر ایک نے اپنے اپنے علاقے میں۔ اللہ نے جو قوت انہیں دی تھی، اسی کو انہوں نے اس کی مخلوق پر برتری جتانے میں استعمال کیا۔
