فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ
so your Lord poured on them a scourge of punishment. The commentaries agree the three are named as cases already closed, and that their strength is exactly what did not save them.
تو آپ کے رب نے ان پر عذاب کا کوڑا برسا دیا اور انہیں جڑ سے اکھاڑ پھینکا۔ ”کوڑا“ کہنے میں تشبیہ ہے: تیزی، چبھن اور پے در پے پڑنے میں۔ اور ”صَبَّ“ (انڈیل دینا) کا لفظ بتاتا ہے کہ عذاب ان پر ہر طرف سے انڈیلا گیا اور کوئی بچ کر نہ نکل سکا۔
