وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَٰنَنِ
But when He tests him and restricts his provision, he says: my Lord has humiliated me. The commentaries agree both readings are wrong: he takes the giving as a verdict in his favour and the withholding as one against him, when both are a test.
اور جب آزمائش کے طور پر اس کا رزق تنگ کر دیا جاتا ہے اور بس گزارے کے برابر رہ جاتا ہے، تو وہ اسے اپنی توہین سمجھتا ہے۔ کہتا ہے: میرے رب نے میری بے قدری کی — جھنجھلاہٹ اور ناراضی کے انداز میں۔ یوں دونوں حالتوں میں وہ مال ہی کو عزت اور ذلت کا ترازو بنائے ہوئے ہے۔
