مَا كَانَ لِأَهْلِ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ أَن يَتَخَلَّفُوا۟ عَن رَّسُولِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَرْغَبُوا۟ بِأَنفُسِهِمْ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ لَا يُصِيبُهُمْ ظَمَأٌ وَلَا نَصَبٌ وَلَا مَخْمَصَةٌ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَطَـُٔونَ مَوْطِئًا يَغِيظُ ٱلْكُفَّارَ وَلَا يَنَالُونَ مِنْ عَدُوٍّ نَّيْلًا إِلَّا كُتِبَ لَهُم بِهِۦ عَمَلٌ صَٰلِحٌ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
It was not for the people of Medina, nor for the desert Arabs around them, to stay behind the Messenger of God, nor to prefer their own lives to his. That is because no thirst, no weariness and no hunger touches them in the way of God, and they tread no ground that angers those who refuse, and take nothing from an enemy, without a good deed being written for them for it. God does not let the reward of those who do good be lost.
اہل مدینہ اور ان کے اردگرد کے بدوؤں کے لیے یہ مناسب نہ تھا کہ وہ رسول اللہ ﷺ سے پیچھے رہ جائیں، اور نہ یہ کہ وہ اپنی جانوں کو ان کی جان پر ترجیح دیں۔ اس کی وجہ یہ ہے کہ انہیں اللہ کی راہ میں جو پیاس، تھکاوٹ اور بھوک پہنچتی ہے، اور جو زمین وہ ایسی طے کرتے ہیں جو کافروں کو غصہ دلائے، اور دشمن سے جو کچھ حاصل کرتے ہیں، ان سب کے بدلے ان کے لیے ایک نیک عمل لکھ دیا جاتا ہے۔ بے شک اللہ نیکی کرنے والوں کا اجر ضائع نہیں کرتا۔
