إِنَّ عِدَّةَ ٱلشُّهُورِ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا فِى كِتَٰبِ ٱللَّهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ مِنْهَآ أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلدِّينُ ٱلْقَيِّمُ فَلَا تَظْلِمُوا۟ فِيهِنَّ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَقَٰتِلُوا۟ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ كَآفَّةً كَمَا يُقَٰتِلُونَكُمْ كَآفَّةً وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
The number of the months with God is twelve, in God's decree, from the day He created the heavens and the earth. Four of them are sacred. The commentaries name them together: three that run in succession, and one that stands alone. That is the upright religion, so do not wrong yourselves in them. And fight those who set up partners with God all together, as they fight you all together, and know that God is with those who guard themselves.
اللہ کے نزدیک مہینوں کی تعداد بارہ ہے، اللہ کے فیصلے میں، اسی دن سے جب اس نے آسمانوں اور زمین کو پیدا کیا۔ ان میں سے چار حرمت والے ہیں۔ تفسیر ان کے نام اکٹھے بتاتی ہے: تین لگاتار ایک ساتھ آنے والے، اور ایک الگ اور تنہا۔ یہی سیدھا اور مضبوط دین ہے، سو ان مہینوں میں اپنی جانوں پر ظلم نہ کرو۔ اور مشرکین سے سب مل کر لڑو جیسے وہ سب مل کر تم سے لڑتے ہیں، اور جان لو کہ اللہ تقویٰ والوں کے ساتھ ہے۔
