يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَا لَكُمْ إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمُ ٱنفِرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ٱثَّاقَلْتُمْ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَرَضِيتُم بِٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا مِنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ فَمَا مَتَٰعُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ
You who believe, what is the matter with you, that when you are told to go out in the way of God you sink heavily to the ground? Are you content with the life of this world instead of the next? The enjoyment of this life is little beside the next. The commentaries carry the occasion together: the call was to Tabuk, in hard times, in fierce heat, and over a long distance, and it weighed on them.
اے ایمان والو! تمہیں کیا ہو گیا ہے کہ جب تم سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ اللہ کی راہ میں نکلو تو تم زمین سے چمٹ جاتے ہو؟ کیا تم آخرت کے بدلے دنیا کی زندگی پر راضی ہو گئے ہو؟ آخرت کے مقابلے میں دنیا کی زندگی کا سامان بہت تھوڑا ہے۔ تفسیر بتاتی ہے کہ یہ بلاوا غزوہ تبوک کے لیے تھا، سخت حالات میں، شدید گرمی میں، اور ایک طویل سفر پر، اور یہ بات ان پر بہت گراں گزری۔
