يَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ مَا قَالُوا۟ وَلَقَدْ قَالُوا۟ كَلِمَةَ ٱلْكُفْرِ وَكَفَرُوا۟ بَعْدَ إِسْلَٰمِهِمْ وَهَمُّوا۟ بِمَا لَمْ يَنَالُوا۟ وَمَا نَقَمُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ أَنْ أَغْنَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ فَإِن يَتُوبُوا۟ يَكُ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَإِن يَتَوَلَّوْا۟ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ ٱللَّهُ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَمَا لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِن وَلِىٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ
They swear by God that they said nothing, and they did say the word of refusal, and refused after having submitted. They set themselves to something they could not reach. They found fault for no reason except that God and His Messenger had enriched them out of His bounty. If they turn back to God it is better for them; and if they turn away, God will punish them with a painful punishment in this world and the next, and they will have on the earth no protector and no helper.
یہ منافقین اللہ کی قسم کھاتے ہیں کہ ہم نے کچھ نہیں کہا، حالانکہ انہوں نے کفر کی بات کہی اور اپنے اسلام لانے کے بعد کفر کیا، اور انہوں نے ایک ایسی چیز کا ارادہ کیا جسے وہ حاصل نہ کر سکے۔ انہوں نے صرف اس بات پر اعتراض کیا کہ اللہ اور اس کے رسول نے انہیں اپنے فضل سے مالدار کر دیا۔ اگر یہ توبہ کر لیں تو ان کے لیے بہتر ہے، اور اگر منہ موڑیں تو اللہ تعالیٰ انہیں دنیا اور آخرت میں دردناک عذاب دے گا، اور زمین میں ان کا نہ کوئی حامی ہوگا اور نہ کوئی مددگار۔
