بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلشَّمْسِ وَضُحَىٰهَا
By the sun and its morning brightness. The commentaries gloss the second word as the sun's light at the hour of forenoon, and the good that comes from it; the sura is named from this first oath.
اللہ تعالیٰ سورج کی اور اس کی ”ضُحیٰ“ یعنی روشنی اور چڑھتے وقت کی چمک کی قسم کھاتا ہے۔ سورج اور اس کے بےشمار فوائد میں اپنے خالق کی قدرت کی نشانی ہے۔ یہ قسموں کے اُس سلسلے کا آغاز ہے جو جوڑوں کی صورت میں، ایک دوسرے کے مقابل، آگے بڑھتا ہے اور آخر میں مقسم علیہ تک پہنچاتا ہے۔
