بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ
By the night when it covers over. The commentaries gloss the covering as darkness laid over everything between the sky and the earth, and they note what comes with it: every creature settles into its shelter and people rest from their labour. The sura is named from this first oath.
اللہ تعالیٰ رات کی قسم کھاتا ہے جب وہ ڈھانپ لے، یعنی جب اس کی تاریکی آسمان و زمین کے درمیان ہر چیز پر پردہ ڈال دے۔ یہ اُن متقابل جوڑوں میں سے پہلا ہے جن پر ان قسموں کی بنیاد ہے۔ وہ زمانہ جس میں بندوں کے اعمال واقع ہوتے ہیں، اسی لائق ہے کہ اعمال کے اختلاف کے بیان سے پہلے اس کی قسم کھائی جائے۔
