وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ
And by the night when it is still. Both traditions gloss the word the same way: the dark settled and gone quiet, people and their noise stilled with it.
اور رات کی قسم جب وہ ”سَجٰی“ ہو، یعنی جب اس کا اندھیرا ٹھہر جائے اور آوازیں اور حرکتیں تھم جائیں۔ یہاں صرف تاریکی مراد نہیں بلکہ اس کے ساتھ سکون بھی۔ نور کے بعد سکون کا یہ تقابل خود اُس شبہے کا لطیف جواب ہے جو وحی کے وقفے پر پیدا ہوا: نور کے بعد سکون آ جانا نور کے ختم ہو جانے کا نام نہیں۔
