مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ
Your Lord has not left you, and He does not hate you. The commentaries of both traditions record the occasion together: the revelation had paused for some days, word went round that his Lord had abandoned him and turned against him, and this came down as the answer.
یہ قسموں کا جواب ہے: آپ ﷺ کے رب نے نہ آپ کو چھوڑا اور نہ آپ سے ناراض ہوا۔ ”وَدَّعَکَ“ توديع سے ہے، یعنی ملاقات کے بعد رخصت کر دینا؛ اور ”قَلٰی“ قِلیٰ سے ہے، یعنی شدید ناراضی اور بےزاری۔ یہ اُس وقت اتری جب وحی میں کچھ وقفہ ہوا اور مخالفین کہنے لگے کہ ان کے رب نے انہیں چھوڑ دیا اور ان سے بےزار ہو گیا — تو دونوں باتوں کی صاف نفی کر دی گئی۔
