وَوَجَدَكَ ضَآلًّا فَهَدَىٰ
And He found you not knowing, and guided you. The commentaries gloss the word not as straying off a road but as not yet having been given the Book or the faith - he did not know, and he was taught what he had no way of knowing.
اور اس نے آپ کو ”ضَالّ“ پایا تو راہ دکھائی، یعنی آپ ﷺ کو کتاب اور ایمان کی تفصیل کا علم نہ تھا اور وحی سے پہلے شریعت کے احکام آپ پر نہ کھلے تھے۔ پھر اللہ نے آپ کو وہ سکھایا جو آپ نہ جانتے تھے اور اُس راستے کی طرف رہنمائی کی جس کے ساتھ آپ مبعوث ہوئے۔ یعنی یہ ہدایت اُس علم کی تعلیم اور بیان ہے جو وحی کے بغیر معلوم ہو ہی نہیں سکتا تھا۔
