بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ
Did We not open up your breast for you? Both traditions gloss the opening as a widening - room made in him for knowledge and wisdom, for the call he had to carry, and for bearing what carrying it would cost him. The sura is named from this first question.
سوال اقرار کے لیے ہے، یعنی ہم نے آپ ﷺ کا سینہ کھول دیا۔ ”شرح“ کے اصل معنی کھولنے اور کشادہ کرنے کے ہیں، اور یہاں مراد یہ ہے کہ سینہ وحی، شریعت کے احکام، دعوتِ الی اللہ اور مکارمِ اخلاق کو قبول کرنے کے لیے وسیع کر دیا گیا۔ چنانچہ وہ سینہ اُس بوجھ سے تنگ نہیں ہوتا جو اس پر ڈالا گیا، اور نہ کسی بھلائی سے سکڑتا ہے۔
