بِّسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلتِّينِ وَٱلزَّيْتُونِ
By the fig and the olive. The commentaries of both traditions take these at their plain sense - the fig that is eaten and the olive that oil is pressed from - and read the oath as sworn by two trees picked out from all the fruit trees for what comes out of them. The sura is named from the first of the two.
اللہ تعالیٰ انجیر اور زیتون کی قسم کھاتا ہے، اور یہ دونوں معروف پھل ہیں جن کے فائدے بہت ہیں؛ ایک کھایا جاتا ہے اور دوسرے سے تیل نکالا جاتا ہے۔ ان کی قسم میں وہ سرزمین بھی شامل ہو جاتی ہے جہاں یہ پیدا ہوتے ہیں، اور وہ ایک بابرکت زمین ہے۔ یہ قسموں کے اُس سلسلے کا آغاز ہے جو آگے چل کر اُن مقامات تک پہنچتا ہے جو نزولِ وحی کے حوالے سے پہچانے جاتے ہیں۔
