بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ
Read: in the name of your Lord who created. Both traditions record the same thing about this line - that it is where the Qur'an began to come down. Gabriel came to him and told him to read, he answered him, and these were the words he was given.
یہ قرآن کی سب سے پہلی وحی ہے، جو جبریل علیہ السلام غارِ حرا میں لے کر آئے جبکہ نبی ﷺ نہ لکھنا جانتے تھے نہ پڑھنا۔ حکم یہ ہے کہ اپنے رب کے نام سے پڑھیے — یعنی پڑھنا اسی کے نام اور اسی کی مدد سے ہوگا، پڑھنے والے کے اپنے زور سے نہیں۔ رب کا وصف ”اَلَّذِیْ خَلَقَ“ مطلق رکھا گیا تاکہ معلوم ہو کہ جس نے مخلوق کو عدم سے وجود دیا، وہ اُس کو پڑھا بھی سکتا ہے جو پڑھا ہوا نہیں۔
