أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ
Have you seen the one who forbids? The commentaries agree on what is being described: a man who set himself against the Prophet's praying and tried to stop him at it.
یہاں ”اَرَاَیْتَ“ تعجب کے لیے ہے، یعنی: ذرا اُس شخص کے حال کو دیکھیے اور اس پر تعجب کیجیے جو روکتا ہے۔ مفسرین اس سے ابوجہل مراد لیتے ہیں، جو نبی ﷺ کو نماز سے روکنے کے لیے آڑے آتا تھا۔ عجیب بات یہ ہے کہ آدمی خود بھلائی نہ کرے اور دوسرے کو بھی اس سے روکے۔
