بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy. The sura opens by naming God through mercy before anything else is said. The two names are not repetition: the commentaries take them as mercy that is vast and mercy that reaches its object.

اللہ کے نام سے جو بے حد مہربان اور رحم کرنے والا ہے۔ تفاسیر اس پر متفق ہیں کہ یہاں ایک فعل محذوف ہے — پڑھتا ہوں یا شروع کرتا ہوں — اور کلام کا آغاز اللہ کی رحمت کے ذکر سے کیا گیا ہے۔

55:13

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of your Lord's favours will you two deny? The address is to two kinds together, men and jinn, which is why the words are put in the dual. Both traditions report that when the Prophet recited this sura to the jinn they answered at every refrain: not one of Your favours do we deny, our Lord, and to You is the praise.

تو اے جن و انس! تم اپنے رب کی کن کن نعمتوں کو جھٹلاؤ گے؟ یہ سوال اقرار کرانے اور جھنجھوڑنے کے لیے ہے، کیونکہ ان نعمتوں میں سے کسی ایک کا بھی انکار ممکن نہیں۔ یہ آیت سورت میں نعمتوں کی ہر قسم کے بیان کے بعد دہرائی جاتی ہے تاکہ ان کی یاد دہانی ہو اور شکر کی طرف بلایا جائے۔

112:1

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ

Say: He is God, One - one with a oneness nothing shares; no like, no equal, no partner, no consort, no child. The commentaries record its occasion together: the Prophet was asked to describe his Lord - what is He, of what is He, what is His lineage - and this sura came down, whole, as the answer.

سورت کا آغاز ”قُلْ“ سے ہوا، جو اُس وقت جواب سکھانے کے لیے ہے جب نبی ﷺ سے ان کے رب کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا۔ ”اَحَد“ وہ ہے جو اپنی ذات، اپنی صفات اور اپنے افعال میں یکتا ہو، جو ترکیب، تعدد اور کسی سے مشابہت سے پاک ہو۔ ”ہُوَ“ ضمیرِ شان ہے، اور اس میں آگے آنے والی بات کی عظمت اور اسے دل میں پختہ کر دینے کا فائدہ ہے۔
