# ADVERSARIAL PANEL — P30 Wing A1–A3
**Window:** SP1 (Opus)
**Date:** 2026-09-03
**Files reviewed:** D1-INVENTORY (`inventory_layer.json`, `rules_layer.json`), D2-RECOVERY (`recovery_layer.json`), D3-ADDRESS (`address_layer.json`, `hadith_dual_witness.json`, `dual_atlas.html`), `framework/sighah_index.py`, `00-CORPUS/_morphology_raw.txt`, `00-CORPUS/hadith.json`
**Evidence standard:** every finding cites file+path+exact value; every count independently re-derived from `_morphology_raw.txt`

| Total unique signatures | 1,065 | 1,065 | ✅ MATCH |

**Dual sub-counts (recovery_layer + address_layer claims):**

| Metric | Claimed | Independent | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| dual_segments | 772 | 772 | ✅ MATCH |
| dual_ayat | 343 | 343 | ✅ MATCH |
| 2D segments | 182 | 182 | ✅ MATCH |

| 2FP segments | 48 | 48 | ✅ MATCH |
| 2MP segments | 7,981 | 7,981 | ✅ MATCH |

**Second-person census (address_layer `second_person_census`):** All seven fields (2MS 3150, 2FS 92, 2MP 7981, 2FP 48, 2D 182, 2MD 16, 2FD 1) verified against raw corpus — every count exact. ✅

**Verb-feature counts (rules_layer R8–R12):**

| Rule | Tag | Claimed | Independent | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| R8 | PASS | 1,151 | 1,151 | ✅ |
| R9 | MOOD:JUS | 1,420 | 1,420 | ✅ |
| R10 | MOOD:SUBJ | 1,328 | 1,328 | ✅ |
| R11 | PERF | 9,153 | 9,153 | ✅ |
| R12 | IMPV | 1,956 | 1,956 | ✅ |

**Attack 1 verdict:** The inventory_layer count table is exact. No discrepancy found in any re-derived signature, dual count, second-person census figure, or verb-feature count. The underlying `sighah_index.py` algorithm is verified by direct corpus replication.

## ATTACK 2 — THE 12 RULES (sarf/nahw correctness + exemplar matching)

### FINDING F1 — **CONFIRMED BUG** | R2 exemplar set does not contain a single imperfect verb
**Severity:** HIGH
**File:** `10-WAQF/build/P30-SIGHAH/D1-INVENTORY/rules_layer.json`, rule `R2`

**Rule states:** *"An imperfect verb carrying 2D with the ending انِ conjugates for TWO addressees: tukadhdhib-AAN = 'do YOU TWO deny'."*

**Exemplars actually provided (identical to R1):**

| Exemplar | form | POS tag | IMPF? |
|---|---|---|---|
| 55:13 | كُمَا | PRON\|SUFF\|2D | ❌ pronoun suffix, not a verb |
| 2:35 | كُلَ | IMPV\|VF:1\|2D | ❌ IMPERATIVE (amr), not imperfect |
| 2:35 | ا | PRON\|SUFF\|2D | ❌ pronoun suffix, not a verb |

The actual imperfect 2D verb form at 55:13 (the rule's own named exemplar, *tukadhdhib-aani*) is:
- `55:13:4:1` 'تُكَذِّبَ' `IMPF|VF:2|ROOT:كذب|LEM:كَذَّبَ|2D|MOOD:IND` + `55:13:4:2` 'انِ' `PRON|SUFF|2D`

The G12 machine-pull selected the first three 2D-tagged segments from the sampled ayat (55:13 and 2:35) without filtering for `IMPF` class. The result is that R2's exemplar set cannot verify R2's own rule statement: a reader checking the exemplars against the rule cannot confirm the -aani ending or the imperfect aspect. The rule statement itself is grammatically correct as Arabic sarf/nahw; the problem is that no exemplar instantiates it.

**Fix required:** Replace R2's three exemplars with the split form `55:13:4:1`–`55:13:4:2` ('تُكَذِّبَ' + 'انِ') which is the actual IMPF|VF:2|2D|MOOD:IND form the rule names.

---

### FINDING F2 — **CONFIRMED BUG** | R5 exemplar at 28:23 carries a wrong-case annotation (FD|NOM for an oblique form)
**Severity:** MEDIUM
**File:** `10-WAQF/build/P30-SIGHAH/D1-INVENTORY/rules_layer.json`, rule `R5`; upstream source `00-CORPUS/_morphology_raw.txt`, line `28:23:14:1`

**Corpus annotation (✅ VERIFIED from raw):**
```
28:23:14:1   ٱمْرَأَتَيْنِ   N   ROOT:مرأ|LEM:امْرَأَت|FD|NOM
```

**The problem:**
1. **Form evidence:** The ending -ayni (ـَيْنِ) is the Arabic oblique dual (genitive/accusative). The nominative feminine dual ends -aatāni (ـَتَانِ). "امرأتَيْنِ" is phonologically and orthographically oblique.
2. **Syntactic evidence:** At 28:23 the verb is `وَجَدَ` (he found). "امرأتَيْنِ" is its direct object → accusative case required. NOM is syntactically impossible here.
3. **Correct tag:** `FD|ACC`.

The rules_layer faithfully reproduces the corpus: the exemplar for R5 displays `feats: ["ROOT:مرأ", "LEM:امْرَأَت", "FD", "NOM"]`. A learner seeing this exemplar is shown a form with an oblique ending labeled "nominative" — a grammatical contradiction. The rule statement itself (*"The feminine dual marks TWO female referents distinctly from plural women"*) is correct; only the upstream corpus case tag is wrong.

**Fix required:** The corpus annotation at `28:23:14:1` should read `FD|ACC`. The rules_layer exemplar is automatically corrected once the corpus is fixed.

---

### FINDING F3 — **CONFIRMED OVERSTATEMENT** | R1 and R2 share identical exemplar sets
**Severity:** MEDIUM
**File:** `10-WAQF/build/P30-SIGHAH/D1-INVENTORY/rules_layer.json`, rules `R1` and `R2`

R1 (class: *pronoun suffix*) and R2 (class: *verb agreement*) were assigned byte-for-byte identical exemplar arrays: `[55:13 كُمَا, 2:35 كُلَ, 2:35 ا]`. A learner reading R1 cannot distinguish pronoun-suffix examples from verb-agreement examples; a learner reading R2 gets no verb. The differentiation by class is the entire point of having two rules for the same tag. This is a downstream consequence of F1: fixing F1 (replacing R2's exemplars with the IMPF form) would also resolve this finding, since R1 and R2 would then have distinct, correctly typed exemplar sets.

---

### FINDINGS R3–R12 (remaining rules): no sarf/nahw error found

| Rule | Tag | Rule statement | Exemplars | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| R3 | 3D | Correct — هُمَا is 3rd-person dual suffix | 18:32, 2:36×2 all carry PRON\|SUFF\|3D in corpus | ✅ |
| R4 | MD | Correct — -āni nom. / -ayni obl. dual noun | 55:52 زَوْجَانِ (MD\|NOM), 2:83 وَٰلِدَيْنِ (MD\|GEN), 2:102 مَلَكَيْنِ (MD\|GEN) — all confirmed in corpus | ✅ |
| R5 | FD | Rule correct | Exemplar case error: see F2 above | ⚠️ F2 |
| R6 | 2FP | Correct — كُنَّ is 2FP suffix | 33:33 'قَرْ' IMPV\|VF:1\|2FP confirmed; note: LEM:تَقَرَّ (VF:5 form) vs VF:1 tag — classical textual variant dispute, not a layer error | ✅ |
| R7 | 2MP | Correct — كُمْ is 2MP (masc./general plural) | 2:21, 2:11×2 confirmed in corpus | ✅ |
| R8 | PASS | Correct — mabni lil-majhul veils the agent | 2:4 أُنزِلَ ×2, 2:11 قِيلَ confirmed PERF\|PASS in corpus | ✅ |
| R9 | MOOD:JUS | Correct — majzum after lam/la/conditional | 112:3 يَلِدْ IMPF\|3MS\|MOOD:JUS confirmed; gloss "completed denial" is standard nahw | ✅ |
| R10 | MOOD:SUBJ | Correct — mansub after an/lan/hatta | 2:24, 2:26, 2:27 all carry MOOD:SUBJ in corpus ✅; the "absolute future denial" for lan is accepted classical interpretation | ✅ |
| R11 | PERF | Correct — madi for completed action, prophetic perfect for certainty | 39:68, 1:7, 2:3 all carry PERF in corpus | ✅ |
| R12 | IMPV | Correct — amr form, number selects addressee | 96:1 IMPV\|2MS, 20:43 IMPV\|2MD, 1:6 IMPV\|2MS — all confirmed | ✅ |

**R6 corpus note (not a layer error):** The form قَرْنَ at 33:33 carries `VF:1` but `LEM:تَقَرَّ` (a VF:5 lemma). This reflects the classical scholarly debate between reading قَرْنَ as a VF:1 imperative of قَرَّ يَقِرُّ versus a VF:5 form تَقَرَّرَ. Both readings exist in tajwid literature. The rules_layer carries the corpus annotation verbatim per G12; no change needed at the layer level.

## ATTACK 3 — HADITH WITNESSES (probe texts + witnesses_rule claims)

### Hadith corpus structure (verified)
`00-CORPUS/hadith.json` → `data["hadith"]` → dict keyed by collection name → dict keyed by hadith ID (string). All seven target records located and read. Probe texts verified by stripped-diacritic match against Arabic field.

### Probe text verification

| Collection | ID | Probe | Found in AR text | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|

All seven probe texts are confirmed present in the relevant hadith records. Content checks are accurate.

### witnesses_rule claim analysis

### FINDING F4 — **CONFIRMED OVERSTATEMENT** | Bukhari 2410/3476/5062 claim R2 but witness only R1
**Severity:** LOW
**File:** `10-WAQF/build/P30-SIGHAH/D3-ADDRESS/hadith_dual_witness.json`, entries 1–3

**Claimed:** `witnesses_rule: "R1/R2 - the 2nd-person dual in his ﷺ own speech"`

**Actual Prophet's ﷺ words:** "كِلَاكُمَا مُحْسِن" — a nominal sentence (ism + khabar). The 2D token here is the suffix كُمَا on the noun كِلَا (both). This witnesses **R1** (the 2D pronoun suffix on a noun) correctly.

**R2 not witnessed:** R2 requires an imperfect verb (IMPF) carrying 2D with the -aani ending. The sentence "كِلَاكُمَا مُحْسِن" contains no imperfect verb at all. No form in these three hadiths instantiates R2.

**Fix required:** witnesses_rule should read `"R1"` for these three records. Adding R2 overstates what the text demonstrates.

---

### FINDING F5 — **CONFIRMED OVERSTATEMENT** | Bukhari 1127/4724 claim R12 but witness only R2
**Severity:** LOW
**File:** `10-WAQF/build/P30-SIGHAH/D3-ADDRESS/hadith_dual_witness.json`, entries 6–7

**Claimed:** `witnesses_rule: "R2/R12 - the dual verb of address"`

**Actual form in corpus:** `ألا تصليان` — the form تصليان is `IMPF|2D|MOOD:IND` (imperfect indicative, 2nd-person dual). This witnesses **R2** correctly (an imperfect verb with the 2D -aani agreement).

**R12 not witnessed:** R12 is about the IMPERATIVE (amr) form. "ألا تصليان" uses an imperfect verb in an interrogative construction (ألا = "will you not…"), not an imperative. No IMPV form appears in these hadiths.

**Fix required:** witnesses_rule should read `"R2"` for these two records. The phrase demonstrates imperfect dual agreement but not the imperative form.

---

### Abu Dawud 4112 + Tirmidhi 2778 (R5): witnesses_rule claim assessed

The form "أَفَعَمْيَاوَانِ" in both hadiths: this is the feminine dual adjective (from عمياء, the feminine of أعمى). The pattern فَعْلاَء (f.sg.) → فَعْلاَوَانِ (f.dual NOM) confirms it is FD, addressed to Umm Salamah and Maymunah رضي الله عنهما — two women. witnesses_rule: "R5 - the feminine dual distinct from the plural" is **correctly stated** and not overstated. The grader disagreements are preserved verbatim as required. ✅

## ATTACK 4 — DUAL ATLAS PAGE NUMBERS vs. LAYERS

The dual_atlas.html makes the following quantitative claims:

| Claim in atlas | Source in layers | Verified |
|---|---|---|
| "772 dual-marked segments across 343 āyāt" | recovery_layer: dual_segments=772, dual_ayat=343 | ✅ Both independently re-derived from corpus |
| Surah 55: 47 dual āyāt | address_layer per_surah_ayat["55"]=47; rank_1.dual_ayat=47 | ✅ |
| Surah 18: 23 | address_layer["18"]=23 | ✅ |
| Surah 2: 21 | address_layer["2"]=21 | ✅ |
| Surah 5: 17 | address_layer["5"]=17 | ✅ |
| Surah 4: 16 | address_layer["4"]=16 | ✅ |
| Surah 28: 15 | address_layer["28"]=15 | ✅ |
| Surah 20: 14 | address_layer["20"]=14 | ✅ |
| al-Rahman "60%" of its 78 āyāt | 47/78 = 0.603; address_layer rank_1.share=0.603 | ✅ |
| share_of_book 5.5% | 343/6236 = 0.0550; address_layer share_of_book=0.055 | ✅ |

Spot-check of remaining surah counts in HTML table against address_layer — all consistent. The atlas HTML and the address_layer are in exact agreement on every checked figure.

**Attack 4 verdict:** No discrepancy between the dual atlas page and the underlying layers.
